SISSA and ICTP Trieste have each a Condensed Matter Theory postdoctoral openings in the area
of theory modeling and simulation of nanofriction, in the group of E. Tosatti,
https://sites.google.com/site/tosattierio/ . The group just obtained an ERC Advanced Research Grant
in this field. For some recent work see: http://arxiv.org/abs/1112.3234v3 (Rev. Mod. Phys.

Alessandro Volta prize
Dr. Stefano Capra, PhD student of our Graduate School (XXVIII Cycle) under the supervision of prof. Alberto Pullia, won the Alessandro Volta prize awarded by the Istituto Lombardo di Scienze e Lettere.
The award-winning research consists in a theoretical and experimental study funded by the “SYNERGY” experiment of INFN, and had previously led to a co-owned patent between UNIMI and INFN.
The award will be conferred on 21 February 2013 at the Salone Napoleonico, Via Brera, 28, 17h00, at the opening
of the academic year of the same institute (http://www.istitutolombardo.it).
